RAFFLE

The Poetry Basket Raffle in Newport raised $80 for OSPA; the winner was Laura LeHew. We will again have a Poetry Basket Raffle during the conference and, we hope, in future spring conferences. The basket will be on display during both readings at Tsunami Books and Saturday at the registration table. Tickets will be $1 each, or 6 for $5. The drawing will take place Saturday night during the welcome before Heather McHugh’s reading.

OSPA's Mission:
To bring together, and nurture, the widest possible community of Oregon poets; to help Oregon poets, young and old, develop their talents and skills; to stimulate, at the grassroots level, a statewide appreciation of poetry; and, to raise public awareness of Oregon poets, past and present.

Salem group forming - meeting 9/11

AN INVITATION TO SALEM AREA POETS:

An exploratory meeting for organizing a support group for poets is planned for Saturday, September 11 at 10:00 a.m. in the Oregon State Library.

Normally closed on Saturdays, the State Library has graciously opened its door (the one on Winter Street near the book drop) and given us the use of the beautiful Poet Laureate's Reading Room on the 2nd floor.  That in itself would make this meeting worthwhile.

Sponsored by the Oregon State Poetry Association with the help of Eleanor Berry and me, Virginia Corrie-Cozart, this would become one of OSPA's satellite units with the purpose of nurturing our community of poets in whatever way we would see fit.

Come share your vision and bring others who might be interested.
